As the awards season progresses, there have been outstanding performances by Black women in film and behind the camera, from Ava Duvernay’s Sundance win for Best Director at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival to the debut and breakout performance of Quvenzhane Wallis in BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD. This photo mosaic celebrates from the past and present in film and filmmaking –and all of their supporters– culminating into the promise of the next generation of Black women who will carry the torch of excellence!
The INTERNATIONAL BLACK WOMEN’S FILM FESTIVAL is hosting this mosaic project. “adriennemanderson” is the founder and curator of the festival.
How did they do that? Did you ever wonder how people created a mosaic of an image from small photos? Well now you can be a part of history! The International Black Women’s Film Festival is collecting images for an image Celebrating Black Women in Film! If you’re reading this, you’re invited to submit your image or profile pic to show your support and be a part of this beautiful expression of how the “new generation” of actresses carry the torch of combating negative stereotyping of Black women in film!
