Make Common’s Day

(from CurrentTV)

Current is teaming up with hip-hop icon Common to give you the opportunity to direct your own music video with his track ‘Make My Day.’

On September 14th, go to current.com/common to get the song and some video assets you can use. Then, get creative and make a music video that really stands out. Use our assets or make your own but be sure you’re using footage that you own or that we provided you. Then upload your final work by September 28th at midnight PDT.

Common will hand pick his favorite video and we will feature it on current.com and on Common’s website: thinkcommon.com. If Current decides to air your submission on TV, we’ll pay you a cool $2,500 to acquire the rights to do so.

A helluva bullet point for your resume, dontcha think?

Check out current.com/common for more information and details.

Email vc2outreach@current.com with any questions. See you on the 14th!

Indie Go Go for the indie filmmaker on the go

Are you a filmmaker looking for a home for your film? Do you want to make it easier for anyone to send you money? There is a service we’ve featured before, but it deserves another look!

IndieGoGo has expanded it’s services to include such things as social networking sharing, widgets for your film page, announcements, calendar of events, and more! Best of all? It’s FREE.

Granted, like with any good idea they may start charging, but, who knows, right? For now, get your film out and to your public.

With their user-friendly interface, you can build a useful web-page for your film and get the word out!

Reel Clever for Filmmakers!

Filmmakers are always asking me about where they can promote their film online… other than YouTube. Several great services have popped up recently, specifically, the Bay Area’s IndieGoGo (http://www.indigogo.com).

A new service has popped up as yet another alternative!

Reel Clever touts itself as:
“Create & manage your online showreel, collaborate with others, find work & get discovered. Manage your projects online with our great project management tools.”

With Reel Clever you get such features as a Video Draft Room, storyboard creator, Crew Manager, production calendar, and –best of all– a series of promotional tools.

As a film festival organizer, this tool will help immensely with my new electronic submission process with filmmakers. And, it will save filmmakers loads of time and resources in organizing and promoting their next big film!
