The International Black Women’s Film Festival (“IBWFF”) occasionally posts announcements from third-parties, especially in regards to Casting Announcements or Casting Calls.
Please note that the IBWFF cannot follow up on each casting announcement or casting call submitted for review. It is your responsibility to use your best judgment when responding or contacting third-parties in regards to casting announcements and calls.
As a rule of thumb, you should never be asked to “pay to audition,” unless the audition is for a competition. You also should never be expected to pay for placement in a production. Casting agencies may require a nominal application fee for their staffing services, but you will never be required to “pay for a role” in a reputable casting agency. Also, please be aware of questionable agencies that “charge back” fees to you if you participate in auditions or casting for a role, and agencies or representatives who have no office location. And finally, always report suspicious activity to your local law enforcement and always check the Better Business Bureau for low-rated companies or individuals operating as a business.
Casting/auditions listed on IBWFF are always posted with the following disclaimer:
DISCLAIMER: This event is NOT sponsored or hosted by the IBWFF. This is a re-post. As with any audition or casting call announcement, you are strongly encouraged to use your best judgment in attending an audition or casting call. It is your responsibility to contact local authorities if you suspect illegal activities, exploitation or violence from the hosts, attendees or other parties in attendance.
