Latino Review posted sneak preview photos of Zoe Saldana‘s new film, Columbiana.  The storyline is that Ms. Saldana witnessed the brutal murder of her parents in the hard scrabble, cocaine-trade violence of Bogotá, Columbia. (If anyone remembers the 1980′s, it wasn’t a “happy” time in Colombia –the epicenter of the cocaine-trade and Pablo Escobar.)

According to the movie blog First Showing:
Written by Besson and Robert Mark Kamen (who also wrote Taken and Transporter 3), Colombiana is set in Latin America and follows a young woman who, after witnessing her parents’ murder as a child in Bogota, grows up to be a stone-cold assassin. Cat (Saldana) works for her uncle as a hitman by day, but her personal time is spent engaging in vigilante murders that she hopes will lead her to her ultimate target: the mobster responsible for her parents’ death. From these photos, this looks like it’ll be awesome, and we’ll let you know when a trailer hits. Sony Pictures has Colombiana scheduled for release on September 2nd late next year.

Columbiana is set for release in September 2011. For those who may not know, yes, there are Black people in Colombia
