Lionsgate Chops 8% of Its Staff

Apparently, the film industry is being hit just as hard as the rest of the country. Variety.com reports that Lionsgate is laying off 8% of the its staff –that’s 45 fewer positions on their payroll.

Lionsgate has been the quirky, industry maverick, and is known for its gross-out factor with such horror films as the “Saw” series, “My Bloody Valentine” (remake), and “Haunting in Connecticut”; however, there also known for flashes of brilliance for such films as “Akeelah and the Bee,” “Madea Goes to Jail,” and “Hot Fuzz.”

Maybe folks are just getting tired of the gratuitous blood and guts with bobble heads passing themselves off as actors. Ahem, did anyone see Vampiyaz”?
